Insider Threat: A Review of Electronic Surveillance Threats & the Countermeasures
Eavesdropping, surveillance, and espionage isn’t just something that happens in the movies. Corporate or economic espionage has become a multibillion dollar industry fueled by the marketing of sophisticated spy technology to individuals who are deploying covert technology against one another on an unprecedented scale.
This presentation is designed to introduce you to the world of how insider threats are utilizing electronic surveillance and how this field has affected the way Information Technology and Physical Security should conduct security operations.
The Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) survey is one of the most under-utilized security assessment services available to security managers, thus leaving a void in their overall security programs.

Telephony: The Forgotten Network Threat
Telecommunications networks are now relied upon more than ever before, making them a staple of modern society’s critical infrastructure. Unfortunately, troublesome fraud and security threats are arising alongside the technological advancements represented by today’s Unified Communications (UC) systems.
The Communications Fraud Control Association (CFCA) in its 2017 annual survey announced that global yearly fraud losses are in the range of $29–$30 billion. The study pointed to compromised PBX/voicemail systems as the top two fraud methods. Simply put, this is a network threat that can’t be ignored.
What does telephony look like today and how have UC networking schematics made fraudulent activities easier, cheaper, and available to more people? This session will address those questions, explore the various risks organizations face, and detail important countermeasures to protect against the multiple threats that telephony poses.
